Kathi,

While I was in the holding area they put an IV in and then gave me

antibiotics through the IV. Shortly after this the anesthesiologist came in

and spoke to me. Do you have any questions and that sort of thing. When

this was done I was given something in my IV and they started to move my

stretcher. Next thing I knew they were waking me up.I was not aware of

going into the OR. Hope this helps.

Darlene: Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I was a little

worried--I can't stand, literally cannot stand, to have a mask put

on. I have a deep seated fear of not being able to breathe, and I

feel like I can't breathe when I have a mask on. When I had my tubes

tied, they used a spinal block instead of putting me to sleep. When

I complained of a headache, though, they gave me a shot of Demerol

(for a headache!)and it made me go to sleep. However, every time

they put that oxygen mask on my face, I'd wake up, struggling to get

it off my face. Ever since then, I've made sure the anesthesiologist

knew to give me shot to put me to sleep before putting a mask on my

face.
