I am very dissapointed today. After working since the end of May, being approved by Insurance and having my packet together Dr. Rutledge has said he can't do my surgery. It is because I had Ewings Sarcoma cancer in 1994. This is something I can't change. I have sent him e-mail asking him if I got my Oncologist to say that I can have the surgery would he do it. I am so very very very very dissapointed. I have personally moved past the cancer and am very healthy working and have been for years now. I can only think that once Dr. Rutledge has the full story from my Oncologist that he will change his mind. Sorry to be so down and negative but needed some place to air my sorrow. Thanks, Tracey Haider >> Dear Tracey, I was so very sad when I read your post-- I know it must have been heartbreaking for you. Did Dr R tell you his reasons for denying surgery? I'm not familiar with that type of cancer. If you can't get him to agree, maybe you can consider one of the other WLS's that are available. I know it's not the same, but I know how I feel at this weight, and I think I would have another if the MGB was out of the question. In the meantime, though, arm yourself with all the information you can get (knowledge is power) and please know that I will be saying a prayer for you every day. Guest guest
Debbie, No the e-mail from Debbie at the office was very short. It said that Dr. Rutledge could not do my surgery due to the Ewings Sarcoma diagnosis. And that they were sorry. I haven't talked to Dr. Rutledge although I have sent him two e- mails. I am hoping that I can talk to him about this. As you can expect after PCP, Psyc evals, Insurance approval, telling my family, bloodwork, GYN exam it is very frustrating. I'm hoping that with some more review by the Dr. knowing that I am a survivor. The only one who gained weight having chemo and radiation, that he will hear my plea and understand that my weight makes me a larger cancer risk. Thanks for your great response, it's good that there are folks out there who care. I really don't want to have the other WLS surgeries because I don't want an open incision 4-5 hour surgery. Here's hoping that there is something I can do to make myself eligible. Guest guest
, I'm just hoping with my big butt I can squeeze in that window. I know Dr. Rutledge has my best interests at heart. However, I think that if he has more info he might be able to understand that my situation was isolated. Here is hoping that he does. Thanks very much for your response. I am trying to look for the positive but right now my weight seems like a very hard thing to be positive about. Thanks, Tracey > Tracey, > I hope you get your wish.
