Guest guest
Thanks for the recipe, Janet. I can't wait to try it! You said that you put the whipped jell-o into little containers and froze it, could you also put it into popsicle molds and make popsicles, or would they hold together?? Any more jell-o ideas, please pass on- my son loves jell-o and it's one thing that he can have right now. Thanks, again. Guest guest
I had the same thought about using the purple fluff for popsicles and plan to try it with a batch tomorrow. It's still a little wiggly frozen, but I think they would hold nicely. I also thought for later after the intro, trying to color the white grape juice w/ maybe cherry juice or something like that to make pink fluff. Maybe try out different fruits and veggies to vary the colors. There was one more recipe I saw somewhere- maybe allrecipes.com?- that I printed to try when we start stage one with pear or applesauce and gelatin. Will post if it works out. I noticed that when the gelatin is whipped, it's a little less sweet than the regular intro gelatin- my son didn't seem to mind that it tasted more diluted though- which is good since I'm trying to hold off on honey for a while this time. Janet, mom to Cody- SCD since 4-17-06, restarted right with intro today and the red cheeks have already gone! > > Thanks for the recipe, Janet. I can't wait to try it! Guest guest
If that recipe with the pear and gelatin works, please pass it along. The only fruits my son is aloud right now is pears and cranberries. I'm always looking for pear ideas. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Janet, have you tried making the purple fluff into popsicles yet? Well, like I said, my son is only eating pears and cranberries for fruit right now, so I take his pear juice mix it half with water and make popsicles out of it, and he loves them. I take pear juice and make him jell-o, and he loves that. Yesterday, I made him jell-o and after it was set, and beat it with my mixette, I don't know if that is what you are supposed to whip it with, and I'm not sure if I beat it enough. I made him a couple of popsicles with it, and they turned out, they held together. They didn't have as much flavor as the plain juice ones, and they had a wierd feel to them. I thought he didn't like them, so I took it away and gave him a juice one, and he went and got it and finished it, so he must like them. I don't suppose you found that recipe with the pear and gelatin, did it work out? Any other creations to pass on??? Thanks for everything. Guest guest
Amber, Earlier today, I typed a big long response to this, but when I went to post it, I got a message that pecanbread was unavailable and it didn't seem to post! Anyway, the gist was that I haven't done anymore juice based foods with Cody- they all seem to aggrevate his diarrhea. I have made him homemade carrot, granny smith and spinach juice for a few years that he just loves, but the commerical juices bother him for some reason- always have. I recently made him some pearsauce and applesauce from scratch that he just loved. It took so much work and time that I didn't want to use it all up in an experiment recipe at this point. Basically, the recipe I ran across was just to use: 1 1/2 cups boiling water 1 3 oz lemon jello (was going to try plain gelatin & add some lemon juice & /or zest w/ the sauce) 1 1/2 cups apple (or pear) sauce Dissolve gelatin in boiling water and add applesauce. Chill. I had thought about trying to mold this with maybe his Winnie the Pooh Popsicle molds or something fun. I thought the puple fluff was a little blander too. Cody still liked it a lot, but if he ever tolerates juice than I will most likely not water it down so much or add a little honey maybe? If I come across any great recipes with cranberries & /or pears I will let you know. Currently have my million and one cookbooks pulled out trying to get some more inspiration! Janet, mom to Cody- 5 yrs old- SCD since 4-17-06- multi food allergies, high metals in baby hair, MB12 shots 1 1/2 yrs, dairy and soy free 4 yrs, gluten free 2 years, speech delay, double DQ7 genes, asthma- food/yeast related, chronic ear infections & multiple rounds of antibiotics in infancy till milk intolerance discovered and the owner of a very very sensitive stomach!! > > Hi Janet, > have you tried making the purple fluff into popsicles yet? > Well, like I said, my son is only eating pears and cranberries for fruit > right now, so I take his pear juice mix it half with water and make > popsicles out of it, and he loves them.
