Guest guest
Mimi, HELP!! I want to make coconut yougurt for my son, but I don't know how. Do I bring it to a boil like goat milk, or do I use a nut milk recipe, or something else? Food preparation is not my strong area, but I'm learning. Agape, PS- I made some goat kefir ... it was good, milder taste than the goat yougurt, but the person at healing crow siad I wasn't supposed to bring to a boil but the starter package said I was. How are SCD folks supposed to make the goat and coconut yougurts and kefirs? Please tell me succintly and simply how to do these things so I can save it to my SCD recipes file and always have it. Agape, scd_post wrote: Hi Monika, You asked a very good question! Kefir is an advanced food that should be used later in the diet after there has been more gut healing. It is a fantastic food but some kids get a very strong reaction to it. Please avoid young coconuts, and use mature coconuts instead. Start out with yogurt made with cocconut milk. Yogurt produces a less fierce detox reaction. The best medium for fermented drinks is goat milk. Even ASD children who cannot tolerate it,return to baseline after a few days. So there is no risk for trying it. Please wait a month after starting the diet and start out with 1/8 of a teaspoon if your child was CF prior to SCD. The SCD yogurt is a miracle for our ASD kids!
