My God the denial about cheese has been a hard one for US to

accept. It has to be related to some form of addiction. Sure

enough this experiment failed...even with the enzymes.

-Son got an ear infection (the first since the last time he had

cheese),glassy eyes, dilated pupils....rage attack...but more mild

than before SCD.

-Husband lost it...became very irritable...he now realizes that it

was the cheese...plus he cheated on gluten...now he is realy sick!

-Adopted daughter got eczema all over legs and thighs.

-KiKi's night terror deleriums came back, dilated pupils....and

AGRESSION was back...sratched sister and tried to scratch me several

times.

-I felt depressed more than usual and had brain fog and wanted to

run away from home! Cravings for more cheese where BIG!

OK, OK...some of you are probably thinking...what have we been

trying to tell you????....yes this seems to have an opiod affect on

us/allergy or something!....as we have learned it causes a

casomorphine reacton when it it matablolized by some of us..and yes

this ASD thing is sinking in...acceptance...is not easy.

Here is the question..DO WE DARE TRY GOAT???????

Do we continue with the goat yogurt???? (just eating it a few bits

at a time?)or switch to another type of yogurt (coconut or nut).

Thanks to all who can tell me again if I have forgotten please

forgive me and tell me again,

Antoinette

Hi Antoinette,

Sorry that things sound a bit rough at the Bunce Zoo!

Re: CHEESE - The only one around here eating cheese is my dh, and I'm

trying to get him to limit it b/c his bowels aren't right yet... I

don't dare try any milk products with myself (nursing Mia with severe

milk protein allergy) and Cameron (watched him decend into ASD haze

with bottles and bottles of milk up to age 3). Myself and two kids

have been milk free for about 11 months now and I can honestly say

that I DO NOT CRAVE CHOCOLATE ANYMORE. Now this is a HUGE thing for

me. It may be worth it to pack it in for a bit with the milk products...

Re: RAGE - We did/do deal with a lot of rage around here, and I must

admit, initial stages of SCD can make you feel enraged (I think it's

your body crying out for " junk " ).

One thing that has worked for me is supplements: MB12, DHA and EPO -

of course they take a bit to " build up " in your system, but I will NOT

go without them again! Fine if it's a placebo effect! It curbs the ol'

urge to hop on the nearest flight to anywhere! It's also become easier

to calmly pull towels out of the toilet and say, " Well, that's not

where these go, Cameron. " Instead of other things...

EPO has also been vital to calming Cameron and lessening his

aggressive moments. Fighting yeast (limiting honey, banana baked goods

and raisins) also is a biggie for him.

HTH! Hang in there!!

Lynn - Mommy to Cameron 3.9 (ASD) and Mia Jean (20 Months) and DH, all

at different stages of SCD

Antoinette,

I think I've missed something while I was out of town, even though I thought I

read through the messages...

Your whole family tried COW cheese??????

Not a good idea, as it seems that you have already found out.

What type of enzyme did you take with it? That makes a big difference as

well. Not just any type of enzyme will work.

Anyway, as to your question about the goat yogurt and whether to continue

with it... I have not read any messages from you indicating that the goat yogurt

causes any of the symptoms that you've mentioned as a reaction from the cow

cheese. So, it doesn't seem to me that the small amount of goat yogurt you

are consuming is having a negative effect. But when anyone is concerned

about a particular food, it is always a reasonable solution to remove the food

for a week or two, then add it back (providing that you make no other changes

during that week-no cheating, no new supplements or foods). Then add the

food you are concerned with back into the diet and carefully note any

behavioral changes.

Taking it out and adding it back is the only method that I know of to be certain

whether something is causing a bad reaction.

Yes temporary insanity...we ate SCD safe cow cheese! And yes we are paying for

it! An no we do not think we will be eating it again any day soon or ever! I

think casein may be damaging our intestines too....having Celiac symptoms and

did not eat gluten or any starch......GI doctor thinks this could be possible

with us...not just the gluten molecules that everyone blames Celiac.

's got an ear infection for the first time since we went dairy free over a

year ago! Can't help but see the connection....always knew...but wished things

would be different. Trying to get back into acceptance!

Trying to learn...and not feel deprived....trying to heal...and now had a set

back with cheese. We are not cheating....with the acception of husband (got mad

at SCD ways).....he paid for his mishap...ate gluten like a fool....I guess we

all have to learn!

He admits that it wasn't worth it...and now is going back to intro.

Have enough humility to admit though.

Would love to have personal consultation. Can I have your phone number....we

will pay for our time....need more one on one.

more)
