Guest guest
I was wondering about the swimming thing myself. Could we not use the water proof bandages? I have never seen them but I have heard of them. Debbie
Guest guest
I love to swim. I'm wondering how long after surgery it will take before it is safe to swim. Do I need to wait until the stitches are removed or can I swim before then? Also, I'm blonde and have read the comments about the hibiclens turning your hair pink. Please tell me they're jokes!!!!! Thanks everybody! Dawn Jester Wichita, Kansas 8/9/00 still waiting for final insurance approval
Guest guest
Hi Dawn: The hair color is a joke...and you can swim about ten days after surgery. Some swim at 7 days. So most of the holding-together of the skin is being done by your body and this is short, but deep, wound. You can take a shower when you still have the staple but even a week after my surgery, I sprang a leak of some clear fluid from one of my incision holes (this is *normal* but it was obvious that hole was not healed yet -- and if stuff is coming out of the wound, it stands to reason that if you get in a pool, stuff can get *in* to the wound). It was more like two weeks before I would have felt comfortable getting into a swimming pool or soaking in a tub with them, but your mileage may vary. Now watch, I'll bet there's somebody else on here who went swimming the day after they got out of the hospital! LOL! > Also, I'm blonde and have read the comments about the hibiclens > turning your hair pink. Please tell me they're jokes!!!!! I don't know if they are jokes or not. That hibiclens has a very strong red dye in it. It turned the washcloth pink and it wouldn't wash out. But I didn't know we were supposed to wash our hair with it, too, so I didn't. > > Thanks everybody! > > Dawn Jester > Wichita, Kansas > 8/9/00 > still waiting for final insurance approval >
Guest guest
Dawn, I have loaned my manual to someone, but the issue of getting the sites wet are addressed in it. And yes they were kidding about the Hibiclens turning your hair pink. It does turn the white washcloths pink and that is why they were teasing about it turning other things pink. Good luck and keep asking the questions. I am late in responding but figure you would rather be answered too much rather than not at all. Darlene Dawn Jester wrote: > I love to swim.
