Guest guest
Becky, Do you think he could be bugging you now because he is craving the starch that he had on GF/CF but doesn't have now? Maybe that is it (which actually wouldn't be that weird then). Just thinking . . . Jeni Lynn (gastrointestinal problems) SCD 1 month RE: Re: Salicylate List/Questions It really depends on the kid I think. My son was GFCF for 2 years before SCD. We added real butter last summer with no problems. We have also had no problems with the goat yogurt, which I actually tried on him before starting SCD, so I could evaluate any reaction before a major change in diet. When GFCF, we had a few minor gluten infractions that were very noticeable but short term thankfully. After a while no behaviors with infraction but diarrhea with even a minor cross-contamination. Strangely, since we started SCD 3 weeks ago, he has been bugging me like crazy for wheat and dairy containing foods that he hasn't had for 2 years! Mac and cheese and croutons... hasn't even entertained the idea in close to 2 years and now is bugging me for it? Weird. Guest guest
" Is this low or high...I assume high for the walnut? Also can anybody tell me if milk is high....some lists say it is some say it isn't. This may answer the problem we have with the goat yogurt and only being able to tolerate a few teaspoons full so far (if eat more/bowel full...tantrums, rages, foggy mind, feeling drunk, and irritability). " Walnuts at .3mg/100gram serving would put them in the moderate category for salycilate content. To my knowledge dairy products do not contain any salycilates. My bet on the yogurt is die off. Have you tried taking activated charcoal a few hours after eating the yogurt? If not, try that and see if you feel better. Guest guest
Hey Becky! I guess the yeastie beasties and other " bad guys " don't see too much difference between GFCF starches and the original offenders. So maybe that is why his brain is sending a signal for the old stuff. I think it is so interesting that you posted this. It makes me glad that we didn't waste time on GFCF and went straight to this. Jeni Lynn (gastrointestinal problems) SCD 1 month mom to 3 spectrum/at risk for spectrum kids SCD 3 months RE: Re: Salicylate List/Questions Yeah, I was kind of thinking along those same lines. Its just funny that he isn't asking for the GFCF starches, but the old wheat and dairy filled foods. Did you ever eat just one pretzel, one saltine, one potato chip or one piece of popcorn? I don't think so.
