Guest guest
I don't have advice about the banana they can be hard to digest for some, easy for others. But you've hit the time for die off. Die off is yucky. You might try some activated charcoal. I had to give it to my daughter in a little honey. It really made her tummy feel better. And don't forget the epsom salts baths, they really seemed to help too. We thought her die off wouldn't be that bad, she is NT with some food intolerances and we'd " done " the intro once, but boy were we wrong. She had a yucky hurting die off about 2-3 days into the intro the second time. Maybe some one has an answer about the bananas. Sometimes, just holding where you are for a day may give you an answer. I know its hard, if he's refusing the soup. Will he drink and stay hydrated? Best to you. Guest guest
Thanks- I think you are right it probably is die off- so that's a good thing that we are on track- right?! I have some activated charcoal and am glad to know I can give it in honey. So, if he wakes up in the middle of the night I can give him some- say 1/2 a capsule??- (mixed w/ honey), but do I need to make him drink a lot of water with it or is that something else I'm thinking of that can cause blockages? He's usually half asleep when he cries out and falls asleep sitting on the toilet poor thing but I could get a few sips in him. I did get him to eat a bit of soup, we played UNO (he loves any kind of game) and every now and then I shoved a bite in his mouth and he didn't protest. He cleaned up the pearsauce I made too and after 2 scrambled eggs for snack he really perked up and was quite happy the rest of the day. Face and body unusually clear and free from eczema and red cheeks- hooray! Janet, mom to Cody- SCD since 4-17-06, going through intro again since 5-21-06 .. Die off > is yucky. Guest guest
Janet, Not sure if this helps.... but remember that sometimes the cravings are coming from the bad-guy gut pathogens.... that are DESPERATE for what they need to survive... and are sending those craving messages to try to get those starches and sugars, at all costs. They sort of take over and try to control the kid's behavior in and all-out effort to survive. Helps to think of it that way, sometimes. Sometimes it's those last " hold outs " ... the really persistant and resistant gut bugs that have the most powerful influence. Hang in there! Guest guest
Sorry, I didn't see your post until today. yes, if you have to you can give it int he middle of the night. I gave my 3 year old 1/2 a capsule with a little honey. You probably need to get him to drink a few drinks and maybe brush his teeth (turns them black). I hadn't heard that it causes blockages, I made her drink because of the black teeth He, he. Good luck. Colby celiac 2.5 months SCD > . Die off > > is yucky. You might try some activated charcoal. Guest guest
Patti, Thanks- your's and everyone's words of encouragement really do help! I think I have another clue about his night waking stomach pain and diarrhea. The ND today reminded me of something that I had read in the past but had forgotten. The liver works hardest around 3 to 5 in the morning processing all the " junk " from the day. So, if you wake up feeling ill about that time of early morning, it can mean your liver is having trouble processing something from that day the body was exposed to. Since, Cody wakes up like clockwork and has all his trouble between 2:30 to 5:30 am, we think his liver may be overwhelmed with waste products from dying gut bugs/yeast, the residual effects from overlapping courses of Flagyl and Vancomycin that ended last week and maybe something he's not digesting well. I think I've been hitting the chicken and eggs a little heavy in his diet, so have tried to be more well rounded in our foods today plus added milk thistle. I am researching more legal things to support the liver- well supposed to be, but reading the list's posts right now! We'll see how it goes tonight, but regardless, we are still planning on hanging in for the long haul as this diet makes so much sense for Cody.
