We used Carlson and Nordic Naturals. These are the only two I can

find that will garantee that thier product is pure and not

contaminated with heavy metals/mercury and junk. I use the Cod Liver

oil (with vitamin D, E and A)once a day and the Fish oil (with no

fat soluble vitamins) once a day also. Was told to use 1/4 teasppon

for per 25 pounds of kid/person for the Cod liver with fat soluble

vitamins. I do the same with the fish oil.

Before we where ready for the raw foods I just put it on their

steamed vegetables or on the diced meats. If you cook it it looses

it's value so keep it uncooked. My two kids Bubbles and , will

just take it like tru troopers. I give them a bit of honey for an

intisement. KiKI I have to be sneaky.

This is what we do now, but I don't know if it will work for you. I

mix them into the salad dressing. One dose per bowl of spinach,

grated carrots, crated apples, grapes, fruit and rasins. Our kids

eat the stuff and don't even know they are getting their fish oil.

But we are ready for the raw vegetables and fruits now. It's like a

fruit spinash salad...it truly is a winner in our house...I am lucky

KIKI has healed enough to do this, and she loves spinach!

I have also sneaked it into thier yogurt smoothies. The strawberry

or berry ones seem to hide the taste better, and a dose of honey

works wonders in masking it.

Hope this helps,

Antoinette (2+ months and healing, entire family of 5 SCD..all at

different stages)

When I had to mix the CLO in smoothies for my youngest son, I never used

a binder. I just used bananas and frozen berries blended together, then

mixed the CLO in. I always put them in a cup with a lid and straw, so

they couldn't see the oil globules. It mixed together in their mouths

when they suck it up with a straw.

You could also try putting a dot of honey in the middle of the spoonful

of oil. That's how I got my oldest to take it. Now they both will just

take it straight by the spoon.

When we began using CLO we mixed it into juice in the blender and put

it in a darkened sippy/sport bottle so they couldn't see the oil

bubbles. They never noticed. Now I just syringe it in their mouths

and this is how we handle all the liquid supplements - it was getting

to hard making sure they finished juices that hid their supplements.

Good Luck!

I know I already answered but I forgot to add. If you know your

child's intestines are damaged go slow. This is why I said only 1/4

teaspoon per 25 pounds of kid. While the gut heals the SCD

way...digestion of fat will naturaly get better. We are two months

out...all signs of steatorrhea vanished around week three, if not

sooner. Her diapers even use to smell fishy...they don't no more.

Hope this helps more.

and others) for 1 and a half years worked. Wish we had tried this

sooner.)

Carlsons has a orange flavored chewable fish oil that my 7 year old loves

but my 5 year old hates. I actually like them myself. You could try those.

FOr my 5 year old I give her the Nordic Naturals strawberry flavored ones

but she swallows them....she can't stand the taste of those enough to chew

them.

Do you give kids fish oil on the SCD diet?
