Welcome, Theresa, I have found that for baked goods, grinding into nut butter makes just as good a baked good as flour and using the butter you have no worries about it being too coarse. If you do the intro diet, though (highly recommended), you will not be using nut flour or nut butter right away. > > Lastly, I'm wanting to make the yogurt and wondering how to go about > it. The places to get yogurt starter are listed on the pecanbread website. The site has so much information! It will answer many of your questions or give you links to other sites that will answer them. Since your child has been casein free, start very tiny amounts of goat yogurt after 3 months and slowly increase the amount. This is what I and many others have done and it has worked well for us. There are also many parents that are fearful of the goat casein or experience a reaction to the goat yogurt (due to not being ready for it yet) and make nut yogurt instead. The directions for making yogurt are on the pecanbread website. , mom to
Guest guest
www.digestivewellness.com is an SCD dedicated website, with a variety of finely ground nut flours; as well as other wonderful time saving SCD legal products. Agape, Trout wrote: Hello! I'm new and have been reading your postings for the last couple of days and learning a lot! I'm gearing up to change my daughter over to SCD from GFCF (which she's been on since last August). The thing is, I don't want to reinvent the wheel?!? I've been looking for websites with recipes/menus and have found recipes. I haven't found menus, though. I guess it would just be nice to have to get started. I have the sample menu in Gottschall's book, but would like a week's worth. Also, my daughter's ELISA showed delayed allergy to Almonds...so I've made bread using pecans/cashews which didn't turn out too badly. I couldn't grind the nuts small enough in the processor without them starting to get " sticky " and turning into nut butter. Are the nut flours typically course? Lastly, I'm wanting to make the yogurt and wondering how to go about it. with ASD, I've avoided casein. I have a recipe for nut yogurt and heard about making a coconut kefir. Where do you get the starter for these? The starter I found at Whole Foods had milk products in it. Has anyone with an ASD child made the yogurt with goat milk regardless of DAN protocol recommending no casein? What were the results? I appreciate your comments! Guest guest
theresa, kefir is not recommended until you have been on SCD for quite a while. it has many organisms in it and SCD yogurt should be fermented with only acidophilus. same for powdered probiotics. donna > > I have a recipe for nut yogurt > and heard about making a coconut kefir. >
