Guest guest
Sara thanks for your reply and the additional sites. Lets see if I can help you now. I am a Physical Therapist and although blood work is not my expertise, I have alittle knowledge. First of all, don't get yourself all worried, because your values aren't off that much. Carbon Dioxide being down - usually has something to do with lungs and kidneys working together. There is always supposed to be like a balancing act going on. When you have alkalosis (increased respirations) the body compensates by reducing the respiratory rate, and thus carbon dioxide is retained. It works just the opposite if you have decreased carbon dioxide. Do you have asthma or any respiratory problems that could affect your breathing? MCV = Mean corpuscular volume This has to do with the size of your red blood cells. Technically low mcv is a reflection of microcytosis, high is a reflection of macrocytosis. MCH - measures the weight of the blood WBC - white blood ceels WBC - differential - determines that the proper kind of blood cells are present. I hope this is helpful, I'm not a doctor, but I looked these up - the other one you mentioned I didn't find in my books - Jeanne
