Guest guest
For those who fear the oxylate problem. Once the gut heals with a strict " fanatical adherance " to SCDiet, all organ functions including that of the liver and kidneys that are affected by the injured leaky gut, usualy go back to normal function unless there has been permanent damage. Which usualy isn't the case with celiac or injured intestines in kids that suffer from ASD problems. But of course contact your doctor to make sure there is no permanent damage that would warrent such a restricted diet. The gut heals rather fast on a strict SCDiet...since all the food allowed in the beginning are easy to digest and do not cuase fermentation, because they are just sitting in the gut not digesting. Like Elaine says in her book: something like this...what a man does not digest does harm.....I add because it feeds the BAD GUT BUGS! This is good news to most of us, because the variety of foods is increased with the SCDiet compared to other plans. IN the beginning there are many easy to digest foods. Our kids brains are starving. They need variety....we shouldn't be tempted to deny them anymore than we have to already. And many sensitivites such as oxylate and phenol and salicylates dissapear and vanish as the gut heals. Even the casein and gluten problem is known to vanish. Other allergies also disappear, or lessen drmaticaly. Elaine and Dr. Haas said, unless it causes an anyphlatic reaction to not avoid it. I say rotate but don't cut out. This has worked miracles for us. We where having problems with just about everything. Short of resorting to eating dirt...if I had taken all those foods out...we truly would not be getting better. I know it. I tried! With SCD we are now able to tolerate all sorts of things now. In the beginning we had a horrible time with Phenols and many other things....now we can do the almond flour, raw fruits and vegies...yeah! But Elaine didn't suggest that we ever eat the SAD (standard American diet) diet ever again....so the gluten shouldn't ever be a problem unless we give in and start eating SAD again. In this case the vicious cycle could possibly come back.....I don't know. After as sick as we became...I don't care to find out. Elaine chose to feed her duaghter SCD for life...because it is so healthy and wonderful, and even duplicates the origional diet of mankind. The one that our HUMAN genetic predisposition is meant to eat. Sincerely Antoinette the messanger trying to keep a message alive. (only 2+ month strict SCDiet all five of us and healing out of our strange senitivites, when no other diet plan prior worked, family problems: celiac, injured intestines that lead to ASD problems) > > I don't know which foods are high oxylate, so please excuse me if I > suggest something inappropriate.
