Guest guest
We have been on SCD for less than a month and I weighed my boys last night. They are losing weight and I am beside myself (one son lost two pounds..that is a smidgen less than 10% of his body weight). One of my twins was only about 5% in the growth charts anyway. Fortunately, he lost less weight but still lost--I'm guessing he lost less because he requires less calories than his brother who had outweighed him by 4 pounds before we started SCD. We got a stomach bug last week but still that can't account for all of it. My question is this: If I get enough calories through fats (oils and avocado mainly) and proteins will we gain weight even if the total carb intake is low? Because of yeast issues, I had decided not to introduce honey and have intro'd very limited fruits right now. Our foods are avocado, limited pear sauce, limited banana (about 1/4 of 1), chicken (thigh and breast), carrots and carrot juice, coconut oil, rice oil, black olives, egg yolk. We have just started with a little squash. One kiddo (my smaller one) doesn't care for avocado but I am going to try to sneak it in recipes as he obviously needs the calories. Help...do I have to get more carbs in for them to gain weight? le
