Guest guest
My son's teacher has a bag of food in her drawer that he can eat when someone brings in a cupcake. She has lara bars and fruit roll ups (both can be found at Digestive Wellness). If I know a cupcake is coming I send in one with him to school. I also send in an almond cookie with him for his snack. He fits right in. His progress at school has been great. He is picking up more social cues. His teacher tells me all the time how amazed she is that he is so aware and in tune now. He sat through a one hour assembly and listened the whole time. Afterward he asked a question that was very pertinent to the topic! I am now reinforcing the diet by telling him that he is allergic to complex carbs, gluten, and dairy. I told him when he eats these things he can't think straight. Using the word allergic removes any doubt from people's minds. When people ask how I found out I tell them the only way is to do an elimination diet, that there is no bloodwork. This explains the diet in terms they can understand. I elaborate on the diet for people who have questions or problems themselves. Sue 6 yr old son, APD?
