Guest guest
Dear , Please, I urge you to call Lucy from Lucy's Kitchen and share your predicament with her about protease. Elaine saved her from almost dieing from erosive colitis a relative to our disease celiac! She can enlighten you on what Elaine said when she was alive. Her number is in the back of the BTVC book....or you can even e-mail her from her web site. lucy@... With a healthy normal functioning gut protease is OK. The problem come when the enzyme inhibiting properties in the intestine are not in check due to the vicious cycle not being stopped or better controlled yet, causing the gut to be damaged and not able to protect itself from protease enzyme function. Not good with a damaged gut. Plan and simple! Elaine didn't trust the stuff! Any other enzyme is Ok. When gut heals, assuming pancreatic function is normal wont need enzymes any way. SCDiet alone kills off all the bad gut guys. Please do not think that I am telling you what to do. I am just the messenger. Sincerely, Antoinette (2 months/celiac and healing on SCD when gf did not work...no longer using enzymes and doing just fine) _________________________________________________________________ Don't just search. Guest guest
and to all it may concern, In light of everything that I have learned about enzymes. If our pancreases if working fine, and our gut is healing the SCD/ELAINE way....My husband and I, truly do not care what is going on with others. It is none of our business. I am only the messenger...and isn't it true that it is always the messenger that gets shot???? The FACT IS, WHAT WE ARE DOING IS WORKING for us. Maybe deep down inside those are jealous or something, that KiKI is so lucky to be so young, not have much irreversible permanent damage and is possibly going to loose her diagnosis of AUTISM. I don't know. I don't even know yet if she will be " cured " yet, but this is our goal and hope. I know one thing though. We are at 2 plus months and don't seem to need enzymes anymore anyways. I may, because I had my gallbladder taken out...and will try to find just lipase. But our pancreatic function tests came back normal. Something that is not true with those poor souls with Cystic Fibrosis and those fighting CANCER/chemo already. Their pancreatic functions become truly impaired. And yes where ever you have chronic inflammation and irritation the chance that those cells that are always being reestablished turning cancerous increases. This is why if protease inflames a already inflamed gut....that ones chance of CANCER increases. Sadly to say those using protease with Cystic Fibrosis usually die young...so we wouldn't know using them as a model for this increased cancer rate. As far as protease being used as a treatment for caner...if it works and a person has cancer GO FOR IT! Chemo sure doesn't seem to save many! But most of us here have a vicious cycle that needs broken...not cancer. 2 plus months and we don't need protease anymore anyway, our gut is doing it for us like Elaine and our GI specialist promised us. All signs of steatorrhea (undigested fat) and undigested protein are gone in our little KIKI. Her own natural enzymes are doing the job now.....she has gained 3 pounds in two plus months.....THIS IS PROOF Elaine's way works.....again. And as you guys know from all our testimony....she is on the right road of possibly loosing her diagnosis of AUTISM. Some have permanent damage. I deal with this in my son, husband and my own health. Nothing can take this permanent damage away. No magic bullet, no DAN!, not even Elaine. But the strictest SCD can insure that the brains that are there can benefit from the best nutrition. So they may " rewire " , or function better....and we too will have progress and success! If those are using enzymes to " cheat " the diet....God help you. The Vicious Cycle will never be given a chance to heal or stop. But again, it is none of my business. My only business is to heal my family. Experimented with other diet for 18 months...this by far works the best. Sincerely, Antoinette (2 mo the strictest SCDiet that we can muster and it is working in all five of us, family problems damaged intestines/malabsorption/celiac and asd) a.. Guest guest
I would have to disagree about calling Lucy. Lucy is very knowledgeable about SCD, but all of the " extras " that people do are not what Lucy helps people with. If you want to learn about enzyme function call Devin Houston or see if has time to take phone calls or private e-mails. To learn a ton about enzymes, go read all of the information on http://www.enzymestuff.com and/or get DeFelice's book. Guest guest
i have read karen's book and it is fabulous. i wouldnt hesitate to use enzymes unless i had a bad reaction from them. so you can always use a tiny amount of a typical dose and see how you feel. i use them whenever i find my kids seem to have had a less than wonderful reaction to a newly introduced food. sort of as a cleaner upper. donna > > I would have to disagree about calling Lucy. > > Lucy is very knowledgeable about SCD, but all of the " extras " that > people do are not what Lucy helps people with. > > If you want to learn about enzyme function call Devin Houston or see > if has time to take phone calls or private e-mails. > > To learn a ton about enzymes, go read all of the information on > http://www.enzymestuff.com and/or get DeFelice's book. > > > > Jody > mom to -7 and -9 > SCD 1/03 >
