Guest guest
Dinah, I have BCBS of MN. I got a call from a nurse at the review board Thursday afternoon that I was approved, but I didn't get the letter saying that yet. I will feel better when I have something in writing. Do you have BCBS PPO? I do, and Dr. Rutledge and Durham Regional Hospital are both in the PPO. My book says that if we are out of state and use someone in the network from another state, we will receive full network benefits. For me that would be 90/10, no deductible, with a $1,000 out of pocket max for the year. I am hoping this is what I get, but I was trying to figure out how I was going to get the money to self pay, so whatever I have to pay is ok with me. The less I pay, the better, but I am having the surgery. I'll worry about paying whenever they tell me I have to pay. I hope everything works out for you! Guest guest
Dinah, I forgot to tell you... I think all together between the hospital, anesthesia, and Dr. R., the total cost is about $12,000 - $14,000. You can go to clos.net and it is in there somewhere. I think under something like " Costs for the MGB continue to drop " ... hope this helpss! Deb
Guest guest
The cost of my surgery was: Hospital: 7687. Doctor R: 3455. This included clinic the pain Doc 930. total 12,072. I was in 24 hours. I think my surgery was 40 minutes. This was on June 1, 2000 Trisha

You don't have to pay anything over that, they just never bother to tell you.
Guest guest
Thanks Deb, I thought I remembered the surgery being around 12 to 14 thousand. I haven't asked about the stop loss figure until told me about it and then you did too. I'll call them first thing Monday morning. My ins is not PPO. I'm finding out that it is not very helpful coverage. But of course I've never really used it, what with working for a family physician, I never have to use it! lol I'm certainly planning to talk to our Office manager about how sorry the coverage is though! Maybe we can shop around for better coverage. Thanks again. dinah > Dinah, I forgot to tell you...
