My child is healing and not eating dairy yogurt. We are also having great

success with enzymes. Every child/person has a different healing journey.

Dear Jody,

Why is it that some kids have been cured from autism, or at the

least improved greatly, When the STRICTEST SCDiet is used, and may I

add with the yogurt, being started from the beginning (since it's

casein in the 24 hour SCD yogurt is rendered harmless). Yet, others

who don't go this route don't have the success they wanted?

Can't help but make me wonder if it is becasue they are not doing

what Elaine and S.V.Haas told us.

Sincerely Antoinette

Antoinette-

I think you make a good point that if SCD (or any other intervention)is

not done 100%, you can not judge whether it worked or not. Strict SCD

and using the yogurt are not mutually exclusive though.

I think for some, giving the goat yogurt a try is not a bad idea. We

ourselves chose to use the goat yogurt with no problems. We actually

tried it out BEFORE starting SCD, so that I could evaluate myself

whether my kids got a reaction or not with out any other changes,

including dietary. So, for us, using the yogurt is fine.

I am not recommending that approach for anyone else, but that is what we

did. I also knew that my son could handle small amounts of casein, like

in butter, with no problems. Gluten OTOH, is a totally different story,

we get a reaction from tiny cross contamination such as a grill that has

been scrubbed and cleaned.

For some ASD kids, they get a very severe reaction to trace amounts of

casein. So these parents, for good reasons, are very wary of trying even

the goat yogurt, for fear of bringing on a major regression.

Not to add controversy, but it needs to be pointed out that it's likely

that the people having great success with SCD are the ones staying and

posting to the list. The people whose kids didn't do so well have likely

left. I recall when I was on the GFCF list, we would get an occasional

post from parents going back to GFCF after having regression on SCD

using the yogurt. Now I don't know the circumstances of how " well " SCD

was done, but do recall that. Note that this has not swayed me from

trying to fine tune their dietary intervention by switching from GFCF to

SCD.

We each really only see a sliver of the experiences of people who have

tried SCD, successes or not. These are based on our own experiences the

feedback of people who choose to share on this list.

Mimi, would you say that the goat yogurt is better than a nut or coconut

yogurt for healing?

Honestly, for us because of my son's reaction to casein, I may never give

him dairy again. Especially because he is doing exceptionally well without

it. We may give nut/coconut yogurt a try in the future when we can handle a

die off reaction.

Hi Kelli and Amber,

I agree with both of you. Many children get wonderful results doing

dairy free SCD with or without enzymes. Dairy free SCD is worth a

million dollars.

However,SCD with goat milk yogurt is worth 2 million dollars. The

yogurt doubles your good results. Are there any risks? As I

mentioned in a previous post, some children do not tolerate the goat

yogurt but the bad reactions disappear after about a week.

I have to run now to give my daughter her nightly yogurt or else she

does not learn as well.
