Guest guest
as soon as Jody not here to keep ypu in line. Dr Baker is dedicated; however, it is very arguable that he is the most famous DAN MD... You've never even been to a DAN conference... Have you ever read 2,3,4, or even 5 books written by DAN health care providers? You don't even know how they've recovered many children off the spectrum, before SCD was even used with ASD kids... How many times do people have to explain to you on and off the list, and even by phone, that yes, for most SCD is the biggest piece of the puzzle, but by far not the only piece!! You said you wanted peace; stop trying to dominate everybody. Agape, (mother of 11 & 12 yo) Bunce wrote: Mimi said: Antoinette is not the only one who gets overly emotional about SCD. Dr Sidney Baker, the most famous DAN doctor, also gave SCD rave reviews during his talk at the DAN conference a few years ago. Thank you Mimi, and Jody for backing me up. It is hard not to get emotional when one witnessed a literal miracle happening in their home. I pray that all can have this success. Even our DAN! is excited ( Kucera M.D.). He calls Elaine " Dr. Gottschall " ! She would have loved this compliment! I wish I could have met this lady. I thank her eternally for bringing my daughter back to us. KiKi in just 3 short months on SCDiet (following it by the book), had her two year old visit with her pediatrician. She has gone from the 5% in weight to the 15%! YEAH....she has gone from the 50% in Head Circumference to the 75%! She also went one shoe size bigger! She never smiled, never talked and now she laughs and babbles! Along with many autistic traits vanishing, it is hard not to get excited. Both the DAN! and pediatrician are just amazed. We have done nothing BUT SCD...no other interventions. I do realize that we are all unique here, but the new-comer needs to know that they could be one of us. I hope that they realize that they, need to give this diet a chance before jumping into expensive enzymes, chelation, anti-fungal prescriptions, and expensive gadgets. They may not be needed, and worse may hinder success of the SCDiet as promoted by Elaine. Guest guest
Please will everyboyd stop attacking me. We are lucky that SCD alone is working. I am sorry that other things have been needed for others. I do relize that other interventions are sometimes needed. Not once have I told any of you to stop what you are doing. I only want the new comer to realize that they may lucky like us, and SCD alone could do the trick. you have posted 2 x's more than me in the past 24 hours...so why are you trying to tell me that I am the one over shadowing? I am not taking advantage of anybody being gone, and have had long conversations with all about my part in this, and now realize what I may have been doing worng. Guest guest
Ahem...., Antoinette, everyone.... Jody has asked me to temporarily serve as moderator while she's away at the Autism One conference. I have tried to stay out of all the altercations. I am not on any one particular person's side here... but, I just have to say, in all the listserves I belong to now, or have belonged to, these sorts of arguments and nitpicking back and forth are simply not tolerated. It's just really bad " netiquette " . I'd just like to suggest that if you have an issue with something someone has posted... it might be best to just ignore it and move on. Bantering back and forth just fuels the fire. We're all here to help the kids... and each other. Let's agree to disagree once in a while, and let it be. Move on. I have to admit, the long, long, long e-mails.... from whoever they're written by... are the ones I barely bother reading.... might just skim. I honestly can't figure out how many of you SCD moms have time to sit typing e-mails all day! I have almost zero time for this... and I only have ONE of my four kids still at home. Also, there are often LONG strings of replies attached to some of these very long posts, too.... if they are trimmed first.... so just try to imagine how difficult that makes it for a parent who needs to subscribe to this list in " digest " format. It makes it impossible to wade through it all to get the help and answers they need. Please.... everyone. That's enough. Let's keep it generally focused on SCD and not rake each other over the coals. We have some new families here that could be entirely turned off to trying the diet at all if we can't tone down the friction around here. You are all great parents, doing fantastic things for your kids. I hope we can build each other up and gently help each other without making assumptions and taking things personally. Thanks.... gotta go make yogurt now.... Patti, temporary moderator and mom to Katera Re: Antoinette, there you go again ... Please will everyboyd stop attacking me. Guest guest
I find this very distasteful - and this seems much more dominating than anything I saw Antoinette post. And I have enjoyed a lot of your words of wisdom - so please don't take this as a personal attack. As a newbie, if I were told that I had to have supplement after supplemenet and chelation and all the other things talked about in here before I would see improvement in my son I would have been devistated. In fact, I was quite overwhelmed as a newbie in here and stuck with it out of desperation. No, my son is not on the spectrum, but had severe UC. I tell people with autistic kids about SCD and those that try it see amazing improvement. I don't know enough about all the other stuff to give advice so I just tell them to try SCD. I even hesitate to recommend this board because it's so overwhelming with all the other therapies that are talked about. Yet when SCD alone isn't enough it's very helpful to know alternatives or other things that people can try - from people who have been there. I learned a lot about candida and GSE and other things that became invaluable to bringing about my son's healing. That said, nobody should think that they have all the answers. I've even stressed over my younger son who has a lot of issues that are similar to ASD kids. He's not ASD, but has speech delays and is immunization damaged with horrible stools and basically did not digest much of anything. In the beginning of SCD he responded remarkably to the diet and all his stools became normal. Then for whatever reason he did not respond like he used to and stopped having normal stools and developed a ton of food sensitivities. I then read all the additional treatments, chelation, enzymes, vitamins, etc and got totally overwhelmed. I don't have the $$ for all this and wouldn't even know where to begin - we don't have a DAN doctor and couldn't afford one if we did. So I've just plugged along with SCD, even though his stools are still not normal. But lo and behold he can now eat eggs, spinach, broccoli, and green beans without an anal rash, or facial breakouts, or green mucous like he used to get. SCD alone, even though I haven't found the perfect 'fix' for him, is working! It's slower than I would like but I'm seeing gains regardless. Sorry for the book but it's very concerning to read these abusive posts, especially when you are dealing with newbies. Why not let people try SCD first and then let them try and fill in the blanks, if needed, with other therapies instead of overwhelming people with all this stuff when they are new? I also see an alarming trend here that was not present when I started posting on this board - illegal probiotics and such are being recommended freely. When I started posting NOTHING illegal was allowed to be recommended and if it was, it was immediately refuted and people were asked to redirect these alternatives to other boards. Also digestive wellness products have been recommended to NEWBIES - and many of those products are not recommended for people who are new to the diet. Pecanbread is more and more like healingcrow every day.. and though I post there and enjoy it, I take a lot of it with a grain of salt since I want to be SCD legal in a fanatical way. Newbies don't have the experience I do and can't differentiate the legal from illegal recommendations.
