Guest guest
> 2. We are going to be travelling for 10 days and I am shuddering at the > thought > of trying to do this diet while on the road. Any tips? Congratulations on the progress you have seen! I have some tips if you are traveling by car. I find staying at " extended stay " type hotels helps so much and amazingly they are cheaper than regular hotels, even if you are only staying one night. I guess that's because they do less personal service overall. Get a " suite " , but check out on the website or by phone what " suite " means in that particular hotel. We stay at Hometead Suites quite a bit and it's really all one room, but with a kitchen area. Basic cooking and eating equipment is provided. I usually bring along a lot of frozen stuff I've made ahead. It's a relief to get it out of the cooler and into the freezer for awhile before the next leg of the journey. We do not eat in restaurants, but sometimes the non- SCDers in our family grab a sandwich at a fast-food and eat in the car. At the hotel in the morning, I prepare a thermos of something like bite-size pieces of hamburger and a cooked vegetable for my son to eat later in the car with a plastic fork. If you usually buy food at Wild Oats, or Whole Foods, get on the internet ahead of time and find out where they will be along your route. I usually don't need to do this because I make it all ahead, but I have done it occasionally and was amazed how many of these stores there are in the cities I've traveled through. By the way, my son suffered from constipation before SCD and no longer has that problem. I can't explain why a diet for helping D also helps with C, but it does. I don't have the answers to your other questions, but someone will. Have a great trip! , mom to
