Dear :

I have UC and the mucous problem with constipation. Dairy increases mucous

production so you should avoid the yogurt and cheeses. You can drain the yogurt

and then consume the whey. I don't avoid butter but you may want to just to get

past this flare. Coconut oil as you probably know is a good substitute.

Another problem I have is allergies, Hay fever, stuffy nose and asthma. What

I use to get rid of the mucous is guaifenesin. You can get guaifenesin

compounded to be SCD legal It is now sold over the counter as Humibid. I

believe this is SCD illegal but I use it without problems (very small amount of

illegals see ingredients below*). When I am congested I take 1 (sometimes 2)

every 4 hours. Drink lots and lots of water. Just an aside, salicylates

inhibits the effectiveness of guaifenisen, so you may wanted to limit

salicylates to help out. Another aside, the new " cure " in fibromalgia which

they believe is caused from excessive mucous production in the body, is very

high doses of guaifenesin with a low salicylate diet. You can find many

websites on this issue if you are interested.

Another recommendation is I fresh lemon squeezed into hot water to drink first

thing in the morning before you eat anything. I hope this helps. God Bless,

Eileen Brown

* Humibid other ingredients are colloidal silicon dioxide, maltodextrin,

microcrycstalline cellulose, povidone, sodium saccharin, sodium starch

glycolate, stearic acid, talc and vanillin.
