Guest guest
Hi Everybody, I have been interested in the MGB since last May and have recently begun reading the posts on this list. I am a 26 year-old female from land, 5'4 " , 225 pounds (BMI 38) with several comorbids. When I first discovered the procedure on-line and wrote to Dr. R, he sent a short reply saying I " might " be a candidate, but he doubted my insurance would cover the procedure. I tend to agree that at present, they won't consider me quite heavy enough although I have been heavier in the past and no doubt, will be again. Like most of you, I have battled obesity my entire life. I remember my mother (who is also obese) putting me on the Beverly Hills Diet at age 7. This was the first of sooo many attempts to lose weight, look " normal " , and feel like an acceptable member of society. My most recent failure was with phen/fen which I took for 3 years and went from 245 to 145 pounds. Before the fenfluramine was pulled from the market, I was already resistant to it and re-gaining weight. At present, I am only 20 pounds less than when I began my fight with phen/fen. I accept the fact that my body does not work like a " skinny " person's body. I have a never-ending compulsion to over-eat. I have begun to make contact with post-ops and appreciate so much that I've already had 4 replies. Today I will call my PCP to try to get a referral from her. I have also decided to try to take a loan to self-pay if my insurance rejects me. Going into debt seems a small price to pay for hope. Thanks for listening. in MD ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
