Guest guest
I would take her to see a developmental optometrist. You can find a list of them online. Perhaps she needs glasses or vision therapy would help. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/

Guest guest
We do a program from the family hope center and it's alot of exercises with the dominant side. It involves alot of creeping and crawling. Cartwheels and turn arounds, forward rolls. Did you know NASA found out then when you are up in the air like from bouncing on a trampoline, then you have perfect convergence. That is until you touch down again. Pearl Eileen Brown wrote: Dear Everyone: Has anyone had any experience with convergence insufficiency. I am thinking about getting my daughter tested for this. She fatigues easily when reading and if the lighting isn't right she can tear up when trying to focus. Any insight would be helpful. Just thought I could be overlooking something. Guest guest
Dear Pearl: That is very interesting. My daughter who has been diagnosed as ADHD (she also complained daily of stomach pain prior to SCD) takes gymnastics. Amazingly, she shines at this sport, she is very good despite her height. Last year, when I had started her on Feingold diet in January, 2005, I notice her gymnastics improved dramatically. I wonder if I got her to practice daily if that would help with the convergence (if she has it). I found a optometrist on line locally who does the testing. We are scheduled to go late next week. I have to travel a little far so I was wandering if there was really something to it. Anymore insight on the therapy done would be helpful. Guest guest
i have taken all 3 of my kids for vision therapy for work with various visual skills including convergence insufficiency. my oldest would only see double and never mentioned it even when i started to suspect a problem when she was in 3rd grade. also 2 of my kids had no depth perception and were constantly walking in to stuff. side view mirrors on cars were a big issue and suppermarket carts coming at them were also stressful. my oldest also had an issue with competition between visual stimuli and auditory stimuli. the developmental optometrist helped with all these things with specific exercises. now they are all reading at grade level and doing well in all subject areas. there is a directory on line of developmental optometrists - there is a lot of links and information available at our drs website. www.visiontherapeutics.com donna
