Guest guest
It depends on what type of protien you are eating, Protien in general- NO, things that should lower C-reactive protien are things that will lower inflammation levels in general. Fish oil is helpful (or cold water wild fish) low carb (no sugar) diet, enough good fats, antioxidants in fruits and veggies Please tell us what you are eating, are you still eating grains? It could be the protien in the grain you are reacting to and is causing inflammation > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: Inflammation and protein..should i be concerned? >Date: Sat, 22 Apr 2006 13:34:55 -0000 > >Hi! > >I was diagnosed with wheat, yeast, and dairy allergies some time >ago. Guest guest
I have been on SCD for about a week. This change has been difficult b/c it is going against the way I have eaten for years. Prior to this way of eating I was eating loads of veggies and salads, very little meat, Walden farms salad dressings and their sugar free calorie free maple syrup as well as splenda and spray butter (all of which i though was wheat free). I know...i cringe at these things after just reading a quarter of the book (i just got the book). Even prior to that I had tried the BED for a little while, but just couldn't ingest the quinoa (bloating, distension, etc.) I just recently went to a ND and she said that I am also likely dealing with a yeast problem Ugh...I wonder how long it will take for me to heal? I have been having fertility problems as well and was told that it could be b/c of the gluten. Never mind the fact that my energy level and bowel/digestive issues have been such that I couldn’t even imagine getting pregnant b/c I was afraid that it would be difficult on me and that the baby wouldn’t get enough nutrients. I will pick up some fish oil today --- Petrolino wrote: > It depends on what type of protien you are eating, > Protien in general- NO, > things that should lower C-reactive protien are > things that will lower > inflammation levels in general. Guest guest
Dear Leanna, How long have you been eating the SCDiet? SCDiet is automatically gluten free if you follow all the guidelines in BTVC and web pages. She suggests " fanatical 100% adherence " for this to work for us. Everything you put in your mouth has to be SCD safe otherwise the diet can be compromised and not work. Check legal and illegal lists for foods/things allowed on web page. As Elaine said in the BTVC book and on her web pages, many allergies, sensitivities and intolerances will vanish eating the SCDiet. Try making juice or even purees out of your vegetables...easier to digest. Cooked Butter Nut Squash isn't bad if you puree it with a little honey and cinnamon...I had resort to home made " baby foods " to get our nutrition in the beginning of healing. Cooked Pureed carrots are not bad either. Experiment with your food processor. Can also put purred vegetables into your chicken soup! If you are like I was, you may need to peel and cook your fruits for a while too. Trust that this too pass and I wont tell anybody that you are eating baby food! Nobody found out when I was.....top secret! Check stages on www.pecanbread.com<http://www.pecanbread.com/> for helpful suggestions on what vegetables are easier than others to tolerate. It is rare for people to eat too much protein...what symptoms other than inflammation response do you have??? If you try to eat a balanced SCDiet this won't happen. We try to eat a meat, fruit and vegetable at every meal. My guess it may be the cow dairy (if you are eating it). This has proven to cause an inflammatory response in my body/and in others....gluten is not always the culprit...soy can cause problems too with this. But again SCD is gluten/grain/starch and soy free...so don't worry about those two. Cut SCD dairy out for a month and see what happens. I can only tolerate a little goat yogurt for the probiotics...only eat teaspoons full a day. We learned the hard way that SCD cow dairy is out in this house....otherwise I had inflammatory response such as my joints ached, back ached, irritability, even depression worsens and I admittedly have rage attacks. Study those web pages...very helpful to me and my family...review the BTVC book too...mine is getting tattered it is so loved. Hope this helps? We wish you the best, it isn't fun being sick...trust I would know, Antoinette (2 months SCD/Celiac/damaged gut/ASD/depression/mood swings, and finally healing when nothing else worked (first tried GF did not work!!!)/joined by entire family due to their problems!) Inflammation and protein..should i be concerned? Hi! I was diagnosed with wheat, yeast, and dairy allergies some time ago. However, a few months ago the doctor believed that I was still experiencing symptoms because of gluten. I have since learned that even though I was wheat free....gluten was in a lot of the foods i ate I went to the doctor last week and he is concerned b/c my inflammation level(as indicated by the C reactive protein test is 11. My question is......I have been eating a lot of protein to squelch the sugar cravings. Will protein continue to raise my inflammation level? I have heard that it can? I am in a pickle b/c it is hard for me to digest veggies(which I lived off of for a long time). Thanks! -Leanna (in the process of healing my digestion...)
