Guest guest
Dearest One Antoinette, I know how maddening this food stuff can be. I find it hard to get what I want too. Here is a post from another list serve explaining: When something is from concentrate is has to have been reconstituted. There is no way to be guaranteed that sugar or some other illegal was not added during the reconstitution process. There is a level of skepticism we must have here as any little bit of an illegal can harm us greatly and we really need to be fanatical about it. I tried in the beginning to get around these things and the SCD did not work for me. It wasn't until I owned up to the fact that fanatical adherence was the only way to get well, did I begin to improve. It was a long hard road that I am still traveling on. Charlene " & Charlene Flikkema " <jflikkema@sympat ico. ca<about:blank>> And this information on Elaine's link about it too. http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/legal/legal_illegal_d-n.htm<about:blank> Juice from concentrate is Illegal. Juice from concentrate is normally illegal because when it is reconstituted they often add other things (like sugar). Often additives are not listed on the label I have sent this information out so many times. I want you to share this information with others if you like. Guest guest
don't feel so bad aniette, I am confused too about that " from concentrate, not from concentrate " stuff, as even Granny B told me that " Just Cranberry " is legal, yet it also says " from concentrate " so I too am confused on that... by the way, the welch's grape juice makes me sick too, so I say whoever said welch's is legal is full of it, but I may end of having to make Jello with it on my " clear liquid " diet before my surgery next week and risk getting sick, because I don't know how else to make Jello clear... but yeah yer not the only one thats confused about that, I have been since the very beginning, and I've been on SCD over 3 years!! What I do, is I don't think so hard about it, and just get the recommended brands they tell me to.. If something makes me sick, I just stay away from it. trial and error is how I got thru that confusion in the beginning. Guest guest
Exactly Tom. Trial and Error is the only way. Just because a food is " legal " does not make it appropriate for everyone...that's the conclusion we have come to as well. Water is the best healing drink, I do not allow my children to drink any juice except for occassional fresh squeezed. Many juices like grape and apple juice, besides phenols, can aggravate yeast infections, as some yeasts clearly have a heyday with the natural sugars in juice. Also, a recent article has come out many of these brands still contain a free forming benzene, another strike against healing. Summer Tom Coburn wrote: don't feel so bad aniette, I am confused too about that " from concentrate, not from concentrate " stuff, as even Granny B told me that " Just Cranberry " is legal, yet it also says " from concentrate " so I too am confused on that... by the way, the welch's grape juice makes me sick too, so I say whoever said welch's is legal is full of it, but I may end of having to make Jello with it on my " clear liquid " diet before my surgery next week and risk getting sick, because I don't know how else to make Jello clear... but yeah yer not the only one thats confused about that, I have been since the very beginning, and I've been on SCD over 3 years!!
