I had my pancreas removed Dec. 8, 2000 by Dr. Sutherland in MN. I don't have pain anymore and it is wonderful. Are you diabetic? If not you could have the Pancreatectomy and Auto islet cell transplant. If you need anymore information just ask. I will give you a site to read all about the surgery. Be sure to look for AUTO islet cell transplant. This surgery is for non diabetics. It only makes things feel more desperate. It is hard to avoid, and we all deserve to temorarily reach our limits. I sometimes go to my basement bury my head in a pillow and scream and cry. I yell it " it isn't fair " , and " out of all the people in the world, why me " , and sometimes some things I am ashamed to admit. Believe it or not it helps me. My therapist suggested that I am allowed 5 minutes every day to be generally P*SS*D off about my condition; because it really isn't fair to any of us. It helped me stop feeling guilty. I always told myself that it was so easy to find someone worse off that I wasn't allowed to be mad or feel sorry for myself. While it is true there are others so much worse off, it doesn't make our situations any easier, does it? We still have the same pain and other stuff that goes along with it. I give myself my 5 minutes when I need it and somehow it makes it easier for me to go on with the stuff that I have to try and ignore the pain and do. I am currently reffered to doctor Sutherland in Minnesota for a TP- ICT. There is a lot of info on the site about this, if you can't find it just ask. Everyone on the site is ready and willing to help. If you aren't diabetic, this surgery may offer a solution for you too. and even if you are there are other surgeries available. You deserve a solution that will make your life acceptable. That is what I am chasing; right now I refuse to accept my life as is. I CANT live this way. I hope you can find the solution that is right for you. I hope we can help at the least by being there when you need it. Believe in the power of prayer, it works.
