Guest guest
First of all, Yahoogroups are acting weird. This one seems mostly ok, larger groups I am in are having lots of problems of blank messages and lost posts, etc. Anyhow... My reply message should NOT have gone out to the group. The message that kinda seemed rude was sent directly to me. I mistakenly thought (meaning I didn't pay attention to details) it was sent through the list. I am a Network Admin. but I failed to view the headers, shame on me. But my response lets you all know that your loyal Lion will fight for fairness and compassion even missing a pancreas and a spleen. =) heheheh The message sent straight to me denegrated me for not elevating Dr. Southerland more and said that I had no right offering my experiences on the total pancreatectomy since I had it " done by a lesser surgeon at a lesser school of medicine. " I don't care to point this person out to the group as it is not worth it and it will only mess things up -besides this person is in a lot of torment and sickness. Drugs and worries really impair people and their thoughts and maybe I have been coming off as an arrogant for having survived the surgery. I do have pride at how well I have beat the odds on things and I do think it is important for people to know that other surgeons and hospitals can now do the surgery. But IO haven't meant to drive it into the ground. To anyone I have insulted I apologize. We are all facing a complicated and harsh disease and we are all better and stronger together despire our differences. These includes our differences in religion too. It bothered this person that I am a Pagan (Witch). I believe the Supreme Being loves all creations. I want to help serve people, especially people that are going through pancreatitis because I know I really need the words and writings of the people of this group. Blessings to you all, Bert

Blessings to you all, Bert Bert, Your personal experiences, and your success with this surgery done by another surgeon, are very valuable contributions to this message board, and I hope that this disturbance does not hinder you from telling others about it in this forum whenever you have the opportunity. It's really sad that you were singled out for speaking positively about something that could affect the lives of so many others. It IS important for us to know of other hospitals in the country that offer the pancreatectomy, and the surgeons who do the procedure. Knowing of your success, I was happy to know that another patient I met in another pancreatitis support group was going to your surgeon and having the procedure done at the same hospital in Cinncinnati as you did. While Dr. Sutherland has been doing this operation longer than any other, it is very encouraging to know of other's that do it, also. It's my understanding that it can be very difficult for many people to get approval from their insurance companies to go to Dr. Sutherland, since he has not yet complied by sharing his files and records with governing agencies that monitor these medical procedures. And since it is such a costly procedure, having insurance coverage for it is the only way some people could ever hope to have it done. Please keep sharing your experience, and your successes with this group. It is so good to know that there are other choices for those who need it. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
