Marina, when you say no change does that mean nothing or just minor? The reason

I'm asking is I didn't find scd until one of my kids was 14. He is on the

spectrum. He was able to poop easier in the beginning but nothing else changed

until a year passed. He had about 3 infractions during that time. Then there

was a major change in behavior and the dark circles were finally gone also. It

lasted 3 months (it was wonderful) then he needed antibiotics and even though I

gave extra probiotics it is back to an uphill battle. Just my experience to

encourage you to hang in there and also go over all your food ingredients to

make sure there isn't an illegal in there. Pearl

Do you have any info on whether or not there is a time difference with adults

(or older kids) to see results? Just curious, about the story below, about how

long the patient was on SCD before this change. We hear so often to wait a

certain amount of time -- 1 month, 3 months -- to see whether SCD will make a

difference. It would be really interesting to know if that amount of time

varies by the age of the person.

SCD 10 weeks (and not seeing any results yet!)

Hi, Marina,

My BJ sees Pam Ferro. I learned about SCD after one of my former

foster children ended up in a residential school, which consulted

with Hopewell Associates. It was thought that some interventions

could help Cindy. When she left my home she was having about 4

seizures a week. After meeting with Pam, they did some dietary

interventions (the school could not do SCD), testing for food

allergies, adjusting her diet, and recommending supplements. Her

seizures decreased to less than 4 a year. If they had been willing

to do SCD, I think she would have done much better. She was about 12

when she began seeing Pam, and is 18 now. We're going to visit her

tomorrow. The school was begun by parents of children with autism,

and also has an adult 'school' for the students who have graduated.

The former director was very into making sure the students were well

taken care of.

Because she did so well, I thought I would consult with Pam when BJ

was placed with me. He's 9 now, and although his diagnosis is

Fragile X (a chromosome disorder) there are a lot of ASD features.

I wish I could tell you how well it works for my 19 year old son

with autism, but he won't go anywhere near SCD...sigh....nor will his

father or 3 siblings. I know my healing is slow (celiacs) but it's

there.

Pam will be speaking at a conference on June 2, and I plan on

going. I will ask the question there, and report back to the list.

Sue B, BJ, SCD 1 year
