Guest guest
I absolutely did not have a catheter, nor did anyone I know! I urinated before surgery and had to go about 1 hour after hitting my room(full bladder). The surgery only takes 45 min. or less,to expose you to a uti for a short surgery doesn't make sense, and is not a standard of care. Besides if you were to get a UTI from a foley,it would usually be w/in a week of the catheter. UTI prevention tips:(for women!) Wipe front to back urinate after sex(Lori??????????You were the 1 w/ the healthy libido weren't you?LOL!) Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate Drink acidic juices, but early post-ops BE careful, many can't handle the acidity Sorry, still an er nurse at times.
