Guest guest
Hello again! Thank you, by the way, to everyone who has ever helped me on the subject of total pancreatectomy. Bert, I am only saying what my surgeon said was the general practice at this hospital (removing panc only). I assume there must be times when it can't be done, for a variety of reasons, but he didn't say. Another thing I was worried about was the post-operative pain but one patient who has had the op at this hospital said that they were excellent with pain-management at that time, using things like epidurals, morphine pumps etc. She was in ICU for 2 days, high- dependency (the next stage down from IC) for 9 days and and then 3 weeks on an ordinary ward. She had been told she would be in NO LESS than 3 weeks. I didn't actually ask the surgeon about that. The practice must be different in different hospitals/countries. I know there can be complications afterwards. I'd love to talk to someone 10 years down the line! However, it still seems to offer the best hope in my circumstances with my particular condition and risks and duration of the disease......I think!!!!! Whichever decision I made, I'd always see the other side and worry! I always do that with every single decision I ever make, even unimportant ones! That's me! HUGE THANKS again. Keep very well and enjoy not working. Lots more interesting things to do, I'm sure! I'm glad you were able to finish work.
