I've been making some legal hot cereal lately.

Here's a post I saved from Sheila. If you don't do yogurt, maybe you

can stir in applesauce.

I peel, core and slice up a couple of apples and simmer in water until

soft. Then I throw in some blanched almond flour (but any nut flour

would work well) and let it simmer down until desired thickness. I

allow it to cool slightly and add some yogurt (or nut yogurt/nut

milk). Adding some cinnamon is nice. You could add honey but I find

the apples make it pretty sweet.

My kids like the granola cookies (in BTVC) crumbled with yogurt and a

sliced ripe banana as a cold cereal.

Here's a post from someone else (Sorry, Someone Else! I didn't save

your name.:( ) in answer to the very same question. I see, though,

that some of the ideas (raisins, etc.) are quite advanced, but it

might still give you some ideas.

Thanks for the Breaskfast tips. I just hate cooking some days. I

have noticed in our kids that now that we are 2+ months out, they

are no longer complaining as much. Our 4 year old son, has changed

the most. He used to be a corn syrup potatoe junkey. Always was

starving before SCD and was always craving this stuff. Prorbably

becasue the bad gut guys where eating as much as he was, or at least

50% of all his callories. He use to have a ravenous appitite.

ALWAYS STARVING TO DEATH...I never realized how real this was for

him. This continued the first two months of SCD...but lately it is

calming down.

I think we have killed enough bad gut guys that he is now getting

some of the food he is eating and thanks to SCD being

monodisacharide the bad gut guys get to starve to death...the little

buggers where starving my son and the poor kid couldn't digest all

those starches and sugars so they just set in side his intestines

fermenting!

The 24 hour SCD goat yogurt with the casein rendered harmless has

been a GOD send in breaking this vicious cycle. I use to fear

casien like some of you guys. Stor bought yogurts always caused a

casein reaction because they are not fermented for long.

I Just dreaded the stuff...and will still not eat foods that I know

contian casein. But you know, the yogurt is safe if it is just

a " casein " issue because the protein is dentatured and can not cause

allergy reaction, but can cause a die off reacion...but this is

good...because it means the bad gut guys are dieing. We didn't do

as well on SCD until we added this benifitual and much needed yogurt.

Sincerely and to all Antoinette

Have you tried the zuchinni latkes (pecanbread.com I think.let me know if

you can't find it) or peanutbutter/squash waffles or chicken breakfast

sausage?

Peanutbutter/squash muffins:

Jar peanutbutter

Package of frozen squash (SCD legal)

Salt to taste

2 table spoons of honey (optional)

4 eggs

-Mix well. Add to waffle maker. Top with bananas and honey or fruit sauce

Chicken breakfast sausage:

1 Medium tart apple (or pear sauce sauce), peeled and shredded

2 tablespoons Grated onion

2 Garlic cloves, minced

1 1/2 teaspoons Rubbed sage

1 teaspoon Salt

1/2 teaspoon Pepper

1/2 teaspoon Dried thyme

1/8 teaspoon Cayenne pepper

1/8 teaspoon Ground allspice

1 lb Lean ground turkey or chicken

Preparation

In a bowl, combine the first 10 ingredients; mix well. Crumble turkey over

mixture and mix well. Shape into eight 1/2 inch thick patties. In a large

nonstick skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, cook patties for 4-6

Subject: What's for breakfast?

I've been rotating banana fritters, midas gold pancakes and scrambled

eggs. They won't eat omelets. My kids are so bored. They don't like

baked goods (never have - texture issues) so muffins and banana breads

are not options for them. If they eat any more fruit they're going to

explode.

Does anybody have a great breakfast option? I'm thinking of making

the homemade pork sausage recipe, but beyond that I'm stumped.

I understand the boredom issue, we are dealing with this too. If they

eat pancakes, I'd experiment with several different flavors, this is a

good way for hiding extra veggies.

For breakfast, I make a few variations of different pancakes. I also

just make quick sausage patties using ground pork, lamb or turkey using

salt, pepper, sage and maybe a little honey. Sometimes I grate an apple

and add it to them.

They always have a banana while waiting for breakfast. I also usually

cook up some frozen berries to go along with breakfast.

For pancakes, they usually have " pumpkin pie " pancakes or apple

pancakes. I have also even added banana and avocado for green pancakes.

These recipes feed my two boys for one meal (about 8 pancakes).

1 cup pecan meal (or almond flour)

4 eggs

1/3 cup pureed cooked squash (or 2 apples shredded or one bananad and

1/2 avacado)

1/4 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp baking soda

cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger (or cinnamon only)

the syrup is 1/2 honey 1/2 cider heated

I also make " donuts " with a variation of the recipe (1 less egg, 1/2 the

fruit, and 2 TBS honey) and pour it into well buttered donut pan and

bake at 325 for about 18 minutes. These freeze well and are great when

on the road. It will make six donuts.

I loved the advice that someone gave about this subject a couple of

weeks ago. She said they don't have breakfast food or dinner food.

We've started doing that occassionally. Especially if DD liked

dinner. I make a plate from the left overs and pull it out in the

morning. She doesn't seem to mind. Good luck. Breakfast does seem to

be the hardest to adjust to.
