Dear Liane:

Hope you are feeling better soon, and how lucky you are to have such a big

huggable tiger. Eggnogg is a great name.

Still the runs, Judy..

its been going on for 3+ weeks now.. and I started having pain on

eating or drinking anything friday night. I'm discouraged because it

has not responded to treatment, and I'm constantly being told that I'm

probably eating too much at once and I'm lactose intolerant. Never

mind that I've stuck to aged cheeses and live-culture yogurt.. which

shouldn't have lactose in it. I'm tired of being told that its my

fault I'm having problems, because nothing had changed when this

first started, and the changes since have been per doctor's orders..

but I'm still here... trying not to whine a lot.

Hugs,

Liane

Thanks, Sheryle-

Eggnogg was our Christmas gift from above.. I was coming out of

Wal-Mart last Christmas eve, and these little boys were crowded around

a box.. and from the box was emanating the terrified yowling of a

franic, frightened, tiny kitten. I scattered the boys, & found

Eggnogg- he was soaking wet(they thought it was funny when he was

freaking out trying to get away from the water), very cold (it was

freezing weather out), and very unhappy. The sign said free kittenS..

I hope his siblings were adopted and not loose in the parking lot. I

brought him home tucked inside my coat, & we named him Eggnogg because

he is a champagne mac tabby- a pale cream color. He's definitely not

tiny anymore, but he adores his mom & dad, and has become the

sweetest, most loving pet... he's the best cat I never wanted.. but am

so glad I got. =)

Hugs,

Liane & Noggy

(see the photos section- I'll post pictures of my fat boy)

Liane,

Who is telling you its your fault? Gee.....almost 4 weeks is a long time.

Is it constant or just occasioanl during the day? How far out are you? I

remember staying close to home the first month out as I didnt know how my

plumbing was going to react after certain foods. But living next to the

bathroom for almost a month is a bit too much, dont you think? Isnt your

surgeon doing anything for you?

Judy,

part of it is the way I'm taking it, I'm sure.. but they keep saying

that they feel this is a " dietary problem " , and even though my eating

habits were the same as they were during weeks 5 to 8 (before this

crud started), my surgeon and the medical director have decided that

its dietary.. they originally told me to eat only when hungry, and now

they're saying because I ate that way I'm dumping everything in the

gut at once after eating. I took Flagyl for 7 days & am now on a

maintenance dose, and all my tests thus far have come back

" normal/negative. " I did convince them that the pain on swallowing

stuff (stomach pain, not throat pain) is not due to being overfull (if

that is true, I have a one-bite stomach), and I'm to have a barium

swallow.. but not sure when.. they're supposed to call me and tell me

today. Yesterday was a really low day, because I'm back out on

disability and fearful of losing my job, plus I can't even work in my

flowerbeds out front or walk my dogs around the block without needing

to make a dash for the loo 5 minutes out. I'm feeling a bit better

about things today, but I'm just sick of all this- I have a " long "

common channel(100cm)- this isn't sposed to be happening, dammit!!

Thanks for letting me vent-

Liane,

I must say that I love your post, you are always positive and uplifting. I am

sorry that you are having a rough time. I think that you are doing a great job

about being proactive about your situation and not just letting it go. I was

thinking that maybe you have a bug or something. I remember I had a stomach bug

that wouldnt go away and after it was treated with antiobiotics my PCP told me.

You will feel better once you stop stressing. Perhaps do you think its stress? I

know that any form of stress manifests itself first in my stomach (even now).

Please keep us informed of your progress, and I hope you feel better soon.

P.S. Cute kitties (this coming from a person who is horribly allergic to cats)

Thanks, Lisbeth-

I'm wondering if there isn't a hidden infection like Amy had-

hopefully my barium swallow will show something. I spoke to my

endocrinologist yesterday about the anxiety (because yep, I have an

emotional gut & was afraid I wasn't helping) and he's changed my

antianxiety meds.. either they're working or I've just become numb to

stuff (lol.. riiight), because today I feel better emotionally.. and

that helps a LOT. Plus I have the fat tomcat footrest to play with

<G>. Thanks for the compliment.. I'll tell Shadow, but Noggy already

thinks he's the cat's whiskers, lol.

You vent all you want with me, okay? Im a pretty good listener!

Gee, I wish I could help you.....it certainly doesnt sound normal to be

going thru this at this stage of the game. I hope they get to the bottom of

it really soon for your sake!

In the meantime, vent and vent some more and I will say some prayers for you

that its over soon!!

Liane,

Pardon me for butting in, but you're anything BUT a downer. This site is so

great BECAUSE we can express our hopes and fears and find invisible friends

who will cheer us on and buck us up. You have helped other in this way in

the past; now, it's your turn to let others root for you.

Hope things will soon ease for you,

Liane, I am so sorry things aren't going well for you, and I sure

hope you are better soon!

Love the pictures of your kitties, and the story of how you got that

cute little Eggnog! I have four of my own, plus two dogs! My Louie is

a lot like your Shadow -- he's a black DSH feral I rescued from the

streets one Halloween in NC (in 1997), and I'm the only one he trusts

to this day. He is still scared of my DH, but tolerates my DD -- he's

the only one of the four cats who runs from the two dogs... unless

I'm around, then he spits and hisses at them.

Heh heh heh.. Shadow walks up to the dogs(I have 2 basenji cross

rescues), THEN yowls at them for being " too close " to her, lolol.

She's getting so brave in her old age, lol.

and.. about me.. Things are gonna get better. =)

Isnt it weird how problems can manifest themselves. I think there is definitely

something going on between the mind and stomach. Because I know that emotional

turmoil sends my stomach into a fit. Sometimes I think its best to just tell the

mind " ok you had your say now calm down Lisbeth " Yeah I talk to my mind. I find

that I am a wonderful listener. Plus I am so captivating! But seriously I think

you have some good physical therapy going with the kitties they provide you with

some peace. Now I want a pet gosh nabbit!
