Guest guest
Sue, Is it possible you may have an inflammed esophogus from the Pred.? That happened to me, I had this terrible burning in my throat and chest. It got to the point where I could no longer eat without severe pain. I had an Endoscopy done for Dx. and went on Carafate therapy for 8 weeks. Sandy I've had breathing problems for quite a few years. They have thought in the past it is because of reflux. I get chest pains & hard time breathing in the high humidity & also in the frigid cold in winter. The breathing difficulties I am having now are different than the previous ones. I am on Prevacid twice a day for the reflux. I am also on Singulair for the asthma. I have tried the inhaler today twice & didn't seem to help the burning much. I am also on Zocor for high cholesterol, Flexeril for spinal arthritis, Paxil to help keep my head on straight, Atenolol for rapid heartbeat, Synthroid for thyroid, Estraderm patch, Salsalate for help with the arthritis. I also take Citracal, a multivitamin & Didronal. I'm wondering if the Pred might be the culprit with the breathing difficulties. I didn't have this burning until the Pred. I am also "fluffy". Dr. was on my case about it but has dropped it real fast since all this began. Had a scare this morning. My oldest daughter called to say she & my grandson might come tonight instead of tomorrow because they decided to have their furnace checked & cleaned & it was pretty bad. 3 of the main pipes have large cracks in them & a 4th has smaller cracks. Now it makes sense why she & her husband have been having headaches & why I would also get headaches when we were there. They have called a place in town for estimates & the soonest they can have a furnace is Monday. Of course you can't do your comparison shopping in an emergency situation. And don't you know the temps are in the low 40's high 30's. That's about all the excitement I can handle for this weekend. Got a bonus though. My other grandson (5) is here. He's been wanting to come. So this is a good bonus. Tommy is 4 & they are the best of friends. Even though Grandma has things to do tonight & tomorrow night, Aunt Bridget will take with her tonight & then the older daughter will watch tomorrow night. Having these kids are the best thing that's happened to us. They give you unconditionally & don't ask for anything back. Hope all of you have a nice weekend. One of these days I will be able to get into one of the chats. Sue DISCLAIMER!!WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, THEREFORE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS RECEIVED HERE IS FROM EXPERIENCE ONLY. Guest guest
Could very well be . When I have bronchitis, my PCP always puts me on Pred and it does help the breathing somewhat. As soon as I start to go down on it, my breathing is more labored. Ask your doctor about this and see if he/she has any solutions for it. Never did get much better after I went off of the Pred, I'm afraid . Hope you're feeling better soon my friend!! W >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> , maybe that is why I'm so short of breath... He helps the breathing problems...Love Sue M

Guest guest
I have the same problem. Everytime I tried to get below 25mg. of Pred. I ended up in the hospital with respiratory problems. Guest guest
I can only take shallow breaths when i have an attack. In fact that is how I decide if it's going to be a major attack or not. I take a deep breath and if it hurts 100 times more to breath in deeply...then I know for sure it's going to last longer than a 15 minute short attack that I sometimes get. Some doctor's have done an EKG when I tell them it hurts to breathe, even when i explain it's because my pancreas feels tight and just causes more pain..and it's not my lungs or heart *L*
