Guest guest
I don't understand this. Enzymes work better in a non-acidic environment. The duodenum normally secretes bicarbonate that would normally buffer the effects of stomach acid. In CF, there is a deficiency of bicarbonate secreted from the duodenum. For this reason, many doctors prescribe Zantac, or other antacids to essentially allow for better digestion, besides the other uses of the drug for such conditions as GERD. Please, the next time you speak with your dietician-ask him/her by which mechanism this is supposed to be beneficial. Because, I think it might be wrong. al
