It reassures me to know that at 12 this surgery seemed to his care team, to be the best option. I am curious to know if the surgery relieved all of his pain? My doctor thinks that a lot of my pain is due to the nerves sending out that pain signal even in the absence of any clinical explanation for it. Let me clarify that statement. Even when there isn't any swelling in the pancreas and my enzyme levels are normal, I frequently have pain. I am not so sure that I agree with his conclusion because there are times when I don't have pain. I had a celiac block done to kill the nerve, and had zero results from this. No, I take that back, it did cause severe diarrhea and caused my whole digestive tract to speed up in general. When I am able to eat now, everything goes through me at lightening speed. I say that the block caused this because I only had mild diarrhea with a stool or two a day before. Immediately after the celiac block, I began having anywhere from 8-12 stools a day. This has gradually decreased over the last year. Sorry for rambling, you know how it is when you start, there is frequently no good place to end. Anyway thank you again. I am so elated for Joey. This disease is so terrible, kids should definitely be off-limits. I pray for his continued wellness and enjoyment of life. God bless and keep both of you. Love and hope Keri Keri Beck RN Mattoon, IL
