Guest guest
Hi , No, you're weren't hallucinating when you read that Pulmozyme is made from Chinese Hamster ovary cells. I remember when Pulmozyme first came on the market. We were at the doctor's office for a check up and the doctor wrote a 'script for Pulmozyme and handed us some information about it, then left for a few minutes. I started reading the info and got to the part about " ...people who are allergic to Chinese Hamsters shouldn't use this product... " When the doctor came back in, I asked him about it, trying hard not to laugh. He got very pink-faced and said " You don't want to know all the things they make medicine from these days! " BTW, they first tried making Pulmozyne from bovine cells but there were too many allergic reactions, so that's one reason they switched to hamsters. Kim By the way. . . I'm the geek that reads the fine print on the medicine info sheets. Has anyone ever read what Pulmozyme is made of. . . (I THINK I READ THIS RIGHT. . ) It is DNA protein from Chinese Hamster ovaries. No kidding. Now I know why the stuff is so expensive! Someone double-check me on that! Surely I was hallucinating when I read that!! Thanks, , mom of Emma, 5wcf
