Guest guest
Hello Hugh! I'm from lovely Liverpool but I love bonnie Scotland and have spent some great hols there! As Kimber says, you should be careful about diet and avoid ALL alcohol if you want to avoid future developments in the condition. I know it's confusing because medical opinion does vary a little about diet (NEVER about the ban on alcohol, though!). Some specialists think that too low fat content can lead to problems with vitamin absorption and that it's better to take enzymes (to help with digestion) which will then allow a bit more leeway with fats. In general I'd follow the advice of the consultant (presumably a gastroenterologist?) as he or she will know more about pancreatic conditions than a GP but I agree with Kimber that the diarrhoea could indicate that you are not digesting some of the fat in your diet. Mention it again to the consultant. If you're worried, have you thought about asking for a referral to a specific pancreatic specialist? Good luck and give my love to Scotland!
