Guest guest
Dear : I just wanted to thank you for being a member for so long. When I first found the group, about six months ago, I felt like the only person in the world with cp. I was finally diagnosed after about a year and a half of unexplained RUQ pain, that required lots of pain medicine. They also removed my appendix and gall bladder in the meantime. Even after I was finally diagnosed with SOD and cp, I still have daily pain, and hate that I have to take so much pain medicine. I take 80 mg. Oxycontin 2 times a day, and 10 mg of oxycodone 3-4 times a day for breakthrough. The breakthrough pain medicine doesn't even help that much, but I don't want to say anything in case they threaten to take me off it all together. Something is better than nothing. I hate living in fear of running out of medicine, or not getting re-fills. What a way to live! I have gotten a new pain management doctor. He seems pretty good. But I don't know his philosophy yet, but I basically need the oxycontin at this point to function. I know I'm probably what they called " pseudo addicted. " I think it means I'm physically addicted. A couple of weeks ago I went through withdrawal, and it was hell! Do you worry about being addicted to the pain medicine? After my last ERCP Dr. Kalloo felt that my pain would go away, and it's a month later, and Sunday it was so bad I felt like I had just had surgery. Even following all the directions, which is even more frustrating! The pain doctor gave me a tens unit, which gives me some relief, even if just to divert my attention. Has anyone else had any luck with a tens unit? I hope I'll never have to have another ERCP, because I get an acute attack after each one, and the last one they perforated my duodenum, which has prolonged the recovery period. Anyone have any idea how long that will take to heal? Didn't mean to go on, and probably didn't say anything very specific, but thanks again for staying in the group for all this time! Robin R.
