Guest guest
Heidi: I've read your e-mail, and feel so bad for you. Been there myself. Sometimes I have been able to tough it out, but another time I went in to see the pain doctor who was prescribing the meds. and let them know what happened. I don't know if that's an option for you. They are usually pretty understanding if it hasn't happened on any type of regular basis. Are you out of percocet too? Maybe they can give you some oxycodone or something to get you through? The last time this happened (in the past 2 1/2 years it's happened three times) I felt so terrible, and was in so pain, that I called my PCP and told him I was going to the ER, and could he call ahead. This was kind of a mistake, because the doctor came in, said so you have a pain specialist, what are you doing here? I told her I ran out a few days (3) early, and was having alot of pain. She said, well of course you are if you ran out. What do you expect? They were pretty nasty to me, put in an iv and gave me phenergan, benadryl and torridol. Did nothing, so they finally gave me a shot of Demerol, which helped. They then just discharged me, and I ended up walking about a 1/2 mile home because my husband was out of town, and I was so out of it, I couldn't even think of someone who would be home to pick me up. Pretty humiliating experience. I sort of felt better that you talked about your situation, helped me not to feel like I'm the only one who ran out of medication. I also put some of my pills in a bottle when I went out of town, and then couldn't find the bottle. Well, here I go looking like a drug seeker. Anyway, how about a call to your doctor? Everything you described sounds like withdrawal. But depending on how many days, you might be through the worst of it, but a whole week away till you can get the re-fill? I wish I could do something to help you. You are always posting messages, and helping others. I said a prayer for you.
