Guest guest
Hi Kerri, I wanted to let you know that several members have been working on books for some time. I have written and completed the 'text' portion for the primary book on Pancreatitis, and numerous stories have been submitted to be included. Over the years I have asked people if the wanted to be part of this. You may have seen the announcement on the front of the yahoo website where the introduction is. The last line talks about this book. Some said they preferred to write their own book. We need as many books on Pancreatitis as possible the out there, and currently the bare the shelves are bare. Occasionally, there has been an interest, and we talk for some time, but then, the disease takes over and our lives succumb to pain, fatigue, and other ill related maladies. What I wanted to do was for the PAI to " write " the book, I simply would serve as the editor. The format of the book would lend itself to creativity and input by many writers. For those who didn't want to write their story, I have asked for excerpts or commentary regarding different aspects of the care and treatment and living with Pancreatitis. For example when discussing the different diagnostic tools, I will have a blurb from someone talking about their experience having an ERCP, sharing what it was like for them, what happened, what they learned, and what a new person should know before having one. Things like that. It personalizes an otherwise drudge book. Let me know what you have in mind, it may be right up line with what we are doing. If you would be interested in being part of this project, we could definitely use your skill as an RN! I am serious about making this happen, and was hoping to have a preliminary project completed by the symposium. As someone said, we can always put out a second version. Please let me know more what you wanted to do. Have you thought about where you want to publish it? And, the details of printing? There are several publishing companies out there. I am doing a print on demand. Anne in Texas has editorial experience and her sister has a publishing press. It is great to have those resources available. As a matter of fact, the PAI has an incredible resource base. With Joy & Light, Karyn E. , RN Exec. Director, PAI Indianapolis, IN The PAI serves as a means of support, information, and advocacy. The PAI cannot offer medical advice or direction nor substitute for your health care provider.
