Guest guest
Well, I had at Children's Hospital last night. She started coughing at 7:30 PM and didn't stop until 4Am this morning. Her stomach muscles were sore along with her cheek muscles (yes, the ones in her face). We gave her Tylenol and a dose of prednisone (30mg)steroid here at home and neither seemed to help. That is what her doctor prescribed. He told me to give her extra chest PT and nebulizer treatments, which I did. We even tried the old wives tale of a steamy bathroom because her cough was so croupy. So around midnight we headed off to Buffalo. About 4 hours later after chest x-rays, a nasty nasal swab, a throat swab and another dose of albuterol and steroids we were sent home. The doctors determined she had croup in addition to pneumonia in an area around her heart on the left side. We were prescribed more steroids for the swelling and cipro (an antibiotic) for the pneumonia. She fell asleep in the car and hasn't got up yet. I'm running on empty. Joe had to go to work because he is taking off tomorrow, but he got limited sleep due to worry. Please keep us in your thoughts today.
