Guest guest
Donna, Perhaps, just a quick outline to follow: 1) Talk to your doctor about enzymes. 2) Stick to a 20-30 grams or less fat in your diet daily. 3) Don't try to hold off on pain meds, they are prescribed for a reason. 4) Join PAI; just reading the messages helps to understand a lot, and the chances of finding someone whose case is much like yours is really good. 5) Understand that each case is different, and don't let the diagnosis panic you. Many of us live normal lives with proper management of our illness. These were my major areas in learning to deal with the condition. And let her know she'll be in our prayers. Guest guest
Donna, first I suggest you give her the URL to get to this support group so she can decide if she wants to join. Also, make sure she knows the major don'ts for pancreatitis (No alcohol, low fat, low protein diet, etc). A good information source is the john hopkins gi website: http://hopkins-gi.org/ and have her search under pancreatitis. Also tell her about the Symposium. She might want to attend for the information given there is usually very good and helpful. As far as I can see, those are the necessities. Anyone else have more ideas?
