Guest guest
Well I am really impressed.. For many years I went to Dan Conferences and have done Dan Biomedical and dietary intervention..In fact I have done dietary intervention for 8 yrs.. started with my first child who thrived on organic gluten and dairy free foods.. Second child has been on GFCF diet since he was 18 months..he is now 6 and we began SCD ~ 2 months ago aprox..I use to listen to Elaine speak at DAN and thought well I understand and this makes sense but I don't need this...lol... Well my second child is thriving on the SCD diet... I just wanted to share it is worth every moment standing over that darn counter and freezing all that baking etc... This week he had some cookies at ( I left at school from before SCD)..They were organic no dyes no gluten no dairy...and i forgot to pick up all the extra stock I had left with teacher for special occasions.... So this week she had given him a cookie on a few days and I noted my son not doing well in therapy when he got home from school.. I also noted the progress notes I have them send home that he had this cookies and I called her and indeed she had given him the cookies that were not legal on the days that were off.. So today when I got to school we discussed this and she said when you mentioned this I realized " YES, he did poorly right after the cookie every time " So YIPPY for SCD... No cookie at school today and he did amazing!! I can't believe I ignored this diet for so long...;-) I am really impressed and am so glad to have finally instituted this wonderful plan!!! In my case ignorance was not bliss...having not done this sooner...;-P Sandy Dan Nurse, GFCF, Dan Biomedical environmentally healthy 8+ yrs....~SCD 2 months recovered 9 yrs. Isaak ASD 6yrs making great gains even faster now that we do SCD....;-)
Guest guest
Sandy, Thank-you for this post! I too have been doing GFCFSF +++ for over a year and feel I have wasted valuable time. If only I would have listened to those at the DAN conferences stressing the importance of SCD for our ASD kids. I too was stubborn and ignorant - I really didn't want to add anymore restrictions to my child's diet - meant more work for me!! How selfish was this thinking??!! I have finally smartened up and started SCD. However I'm feeling sorry for myself today - I HATE cooking/food prep and am resenting all the work involved to bring my child back to health. Nausea is bad today (I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy). Your email really picked me up - I can totally identify. So glad to hear your child is thriving on SCD (even more so than GFCF)!! All your hard work is paying off - way to go Mommy! Thanks for listening to my whining, and keep us posted on your children's progress. Kim :-) Starting whole family SCD 3 yo ASD, 2 yo NT, baby in December Want to share how SCD is really making some gains here.. Well I am really impressed.. For many years I went to Dan Conferences and have done Dan Biomedical and dietary intervention
Guest guest
Well Kim..I am happy I finally started SCD..... Now may I suggest whenever baking you do doubles of all recipes and freeze.. the worst part is walking in the kitchen and making the mess... Once you get in there it's not too bad at all.. Kinda like working out.. it's getting to the gym that is hard... So if you manage to get in the kitchen.. go girl..bake away but double everything...Glad I could help you relate... Not all kids need SCD my other child did amazing and really is pretty much recovered without SCD..but my son he NEEDS SCD...So like everything you don't know til you try...
