Hi I am Cassio Ferreira from Suncoast Community Health

Center. A company committed

to the health of migrant worker in South Florida.

We currently have patient who needs eye surgery. This patient doesn’t

qualify for Medicaid and doesn’t have the money for this operation. We are

trying to help this patient but with no luck here in Florida. I like to know if any one knows a physician

who could volunteer his/her job, or someone who can help this patient with her

surgery costs. Thanks to everyone.

Cassio Ferreira.

None, we are in the sticking the head in

the sand stage, just like HIV when it first came out. But its real and

its there and we have an epidemic of this disease. No one wants to take a

lead on this, not even the migrant farm worker organizations. Pterygium is

horrific and based on my research if you are a Hispanic male you have a 70%

chance of getting it. Cassio, get the word out and next time you come

across a group of Hispanic farm workers look into their eyes and you will see

the blistering, it’s a bubbling of the white cornea some may be

blind. It is not caused by pesticide but over exposure to sun light.

Sincerely,

Rene Quintana
