Pain Meds

I have been reading posts that speak of receiving pain meds and also going

to pain management doctors and I know some of you don't have a firm

diagnosis of CP or SOD (maybe Robin, Laurie?). So on what basis or diagnosis

are you being treated for? Or do the doctors have to treat you if you have

pain and no firm diagnosis? I am wondering as I have no firm diagnosis of CP

or SOD although Dr. Lehman gave me those probable diagnosis based on my

symptoms and hx and sent a letter to that effect to my PCP and actually told

him to be more liberal w/pain meds.

I had a flareup about two weeks ago which lasted 4 days and had to call my

PCP for stronger meds - actually I doubled up on my reg vicodin every 4

hours just to touch the pain - he gave me a script for them and now I have

to see him - I am thinking he is going to want me to have an ERCP or send me

to a pain management doctor. I don't want an ERCP if I can help it as I

don't take pain meds on a regular basis yet and I know the ERCP will

exacerbate my condition. If he were to refer me to a pain management doctor

- would the PCP have to write a letter of my condition and probable

diagnosis even though it has not be confirmed and will they treat pain based

on that?

Just getting prepared for the visit to the PCP tomorrow in case he throws

some curves at me that I am not expecting, I will be prepared.

Thanks, Debbie
