Guest guest
Okay, need some advice and help. We have been adhering to this diet for a little over a month now with the exception of non-allowable enzymes and vitamins. Plan to change that soon. Ds has been doing good, meaning he has been passing a bm every day and sometimes more than once. They aren't always the best looking bms but still it's better than constipation. A couple of days ago his babysitter gave him regular yogurt instead of our 24 hour yogurt. That night he had a bm with all undigested food in it. It was really strange. He hasn't had a bm like this for about a year. I had given him peas the day before and some apple muffins that night and they were all there. The other concern that I have, though it seems to have gone away now, is his behavior. My once fairly even keeled boy has been falling apart left and right this past week. He seems hungry and/or over tired. He has had a cold that won't go away. That hasn't helped. Plus I haven't been in the greatest of moods due to hormonal fluctuations. I am still nursing and wonder if he doesn't get my hormonal stuff through my milk. I feel like he just isn't getting enough calories. He won't eat all the usual stuff that he used to eat. He won't eat the nut muffins, apples, veggies, etc. He has been eating a lot of meat. I know that children don't always eat what we would call a balanced diet in any given meal. I've noticed that he sometimes just eats meat, then he eats veggies, then he eats fruit...actually he always wants fruit and yogurt! Before his bms now he is complaining of stomach pain. Perhaps this is a good sign that he is recognizing when he needs to go. The pain he points to is up high under his rib cage in the middle. I'm still concerned about reflux and know that constipation can exacerbate reflux. Lastly, his weight isn't coming up like the last time we were on the diet. Last time he gained a pound in a month and went from 3rd percentile to 5th. Now he is well below 3rd. I wonder if he lost weight this time. I'm trying not to let my worry get the best of me, but it isn't easy. I am so inspired by those of you with children with harsher issues than mine. My child is enigma to me. He is social, articulate and funny. The only thing I'm worried about is his weight and constipation. I'm seeing some improvement on the diet but still worried about his weight and moods. gwen luca-3 yrs scd 1 month second time around.
