Sorry my contact has been so limited lately but everything has been a little topsy-turvy lately. I went into the hospital thursday for another ERCP and was discharged late Friday night. I noticed before I left that I was having problems above the usual but contributed this to the procedure. It turns out that the stent that was placed apparently never held or was completely blocked within a few hours, now I'm back in the hospital again and initially was told that after reviewing my x-rays that I would need a new stent. Now, I was OK with that but after waiting all morning I'm now told that it would do no good to have that done and that I need to have a total removal of my pancreas, or a bilary bypass. Now I feel that at this time removal is just a little extreme and way too much to wrap my brain around since I am still producing insulin and he wants me to make a decision today about the whole deal. He says that I don't have enough of my pancreas left to perform an autolog-islet trans even if I were to find someone to do the procedure, and just doing the bypass would only delay the enevitable. I have to go now because my infusion pump is beeping low battery but I will be back a.s.a.p. Someone please give me some input. I just wanted another stent. Percy in Dallas.
