The above comment made me think of an important point. Covering your

mouth with your hand to cough is a prime way to spread germs as it

contaminates the hand and then the hand spreads the germs to items it

touches ... the next people who touch the same items pick up the germs,

etc. My son had a grade two teacher who considered this and kindly said

she would teach everyone in the class to cough into their armpit. It is

fairly easy when one has to cough to lift the arm and put one's mouth

towards it so that the germs are sent into the shoulder/armpit area.

This is not an area we use for direct contact with most places so seems

logical that this method of " covering the mouth " with the armpit would

help contain the spread of germs.
