Guest guest
Hi Kendra, I joined this list very shortly after died. She died from a perforated small bowel which was a complication related to the surgery. It was a terrible tragedy. It broke everyone's hearts, and made everyone think again about their decision to have the MGB, I think. Death is a possibility with any surgery. There has only (I hate to say " only " because each life is of infinite worth, but you know what I mean) been one death from complications from the MGB. Every person has to decide for themselves whether they are comfortable with having the MGB in spite of the possible complications. It is clear from the research I have done that the MGB has a much smaller risk of complications, including death, than other weight loss surgeries. I also believe that I have a greater chance of dying too young if I don't have this surgery than if I do. I have an angel husband and 6 incredible children, and I need and want with all my heart to be with them in this life for as long as I possibly can. I know that my best chance for that is the MGB. I have also done a lot of praying to be sure I have made the right decision for myself. I feel very calm, very sure of my research, and very happy with my decision, but I know that each person has different circumstances and different feelings about things, so everyone needs to do all the research and information gathering that they can, and then make their own informed decision. This list is a great tool for support, information, and friendship. Keep asking questions until you get all the answers you need. I wish you the best!!
