Guest guest
Bert, Welcome Home! You have been missed. Wow! 9 days post op TP/ICT from Univ. Hospital, Cincinnati. I am so glad that you were happy with the services. That will play an important part in your recovery. So your TF is out, and you are taking small amounts by mouth. You obviously have some endocrine function going on with that insulin protocol. I was doing reading last night and it seems common to be up to 3 weeks before full endocrine function can be evaluated s/p transplant. Did the doctor tell you how many Islet cells they were able to harvest? I hope that you did not have much neurogenic pain and that is gradually resolved. You are bound top have some serious surgical pain. Can you tell the difference? I would imagine that you didn't have extensive damage because you so bravely made the decision to remove the diseased pancreas before it affected the integrating spinal nerves. I know your wife is glad to have you home! I hope she is doing okay for the time being. How are you doing moving around, transferring in/out of bed, walking, etc.? Keep us informed with frequent short notes. We can file them so you will have notes to write up your full experience in a few months. I am sure you must be tired if you just came home today. And, how thoughtful, that you even thought about logging on to keep us updated. Of course, besides, my immediate family, my church, the dulcimer society, the people I have met here, constitute my network of friends. Happy Healing! Karyn Karyn E. , RN Exec.
