Guest guest
Has anybody here taught a (toddler) 23 month old how to read or do sign language that is not wanting to talk much and still throwing tantrums due to frustration of not getting her point accross. I saw a book for AS titled " When Babies READ " . Did not buy it yet. She is showing GREAT interest in cards with words on them. She use to stim with cards for ever, but now we have turned it into a game. Her stimming has been gone for a week yesturday. She loves those cards. She also has learned a few signs since SCD started. Before she would become furious and shut down if we tried to get her to communicate. She has been using her voice more for the first time in her life since starting SCD, but although trying to talk (babbleing more than anything), rather quite still and still often screaming to get her point accross when she has a need or becomes frustrated. She is being assessed/evaluated for therapy for speech and what ever else, this 20th. Improved but want others suggestions. It would be nice if we could help her communicate better, she is so smart..but her thoughts are trapped by little language.
